چکیده
ABSTRACT Tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) associated to cranial wedge closing ostectomy (CCWO) has been one of the best options manage cruciate ligament (CCL) disease and excessive tibial angle (TPA) in large dogs, however, complication rate is potentially high. It believed that a more robust fixation necessary stabilize them decrease risk implant failure. A 6-year-old male American Pit Bull, weighing 36kg, with 90-day history right hind limb lameness, was diagnosed CCL disease. Due (42°), TPLO modified CCWO using double plating technique. final TPA 12⁰ accomplished, restricted level exercises physiotherapy were recommended. The patient followed monthly until fifth month postoperatively, when radiographic bone consolidation no lameness observed. By date this submission, 3 years after procedure, owner reported complications. technique for fixing proved be effective treatment CrCL deficiency dog an TPA.

Comparison of the tibia plateau angle between small and large dogs with cranial cruciate ligament disease.
OBJECTIVES To compare the conformation of the proximal tibia evaluated on a medio-lateral radiograph between small and large dogs with cranial cruciate ligament disease (CCLD). METHODS Retrospective clinical study with dogs having radiographic evaluation and CCLD confirmed at surgery. The first group (n = 52) was comprised of dogs weighing less than 15 kg and the second group (n = 52) of dogs...
متن کاملTibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO): Surgical Treatment of Your Dog’s Knee Injury Understanding disease of the Cranial Cruciate Ligament
Understanding disease of the Cranial Cruciate Ligament The CCL is one of the most important stabilizers of the knee. It prevents hyperextension, limits internal rotation, and prevents the tibia (shin bone) from sliding forward each time the leg bears weight. When the CCL is damaged, the result is an unstable knee. This instability results in pain and inflammation. Over time, debilitating arthri...
متن کاملA comparison of outcomes following tibial plateau levelling osteotomy and cranial tibial wedge osteotomy procedures.
The objective of this study was to determine whether clinical outcomes were superior and complication rates were lower in dogs that had had a cranial cruciate ligament rupture treated by tibial plateau levelling osteotomy (TPLO), compared to those dogs that had been treated using the original cranial tibial wedge osteotomy (CTWO) procedure. Thirty-seven client-owned dogs with cranial cruciate l...

OBJECTIVE To report the surgical procedure, intra- and postoperative complications, and short-term follow-up of tibial plateau levelling osteotomy (TPLO) in feline patients with cranial cruciate ligament (CrCL) rupture using a 2.0 or 2.4 mm Synthes® TPLO plate. STUDY DESIGN Prospective study. MATERIAL AND METHODS Eleven cats with a CrCL rupture were included in the study. Inspection of intr...
متن کاملSurgical treatment of a proximal diaphyseal tibial deformity associated with partial caudal and cranial cruciate ligament deficiency and patella baja.
INTRODUCTION Caudal cruciate ligament injury can be a complication following tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) (Slocum und Slocum, 1993) especially if the post-operative Tibial Plateau Angle (TPA) is less than 5 degree. We describe a case of negative TPA associated with partial cranial and caudal ligament rupture treated with a center of rotation of angulation (CORA) based cranial tibial...
